DND flyway Power Capacity to turn Solar

India is on a spree to eliminate fossil fuel dependency and accelerate alternative sources of energy.  Latest reports assert that lighting facilty at the DND flyway will be illuminated by solar energy. The flyway operator, Noida Toll Bridge Company Ltd (NTBCL), has decided to shift to renewable energy source to refrain use of traditional power and and cut down maintenance costs.

Officials said they will soon start installing solar grid. Once the project is complete, it will power the lighting facility and also the electronic machineries at the flyway office and toll plaza.

“The works for installing solar power grid will start in April. Shifting towards renewable energy from the conventional source of energy is a step towards green mobility,” said Harish Mathur, executive director of NTBCL.

Currently, the DND flyway has a power system with a load capacity of 730 KW/hr. The project will be completed in three months. The operator has also decided to replace the existing sodium vapour lamps with solar LED bulbs.
