BYD Delivers Huge E-Bus Fleets to Colombia, Japan, and Europe

Hong Kong based BYD has announced that it has delivered over 700 electric buses to three cities in Colmbia, Japan and the Netherlands. e-bus

The Bogota City Government and the Bogota City Public Transport Authority (TRANSMILENIO) held a grand launch and delivery ceremony for the first batch of 120 buses. This batch of buses will be delivered to 9 bus routes and will serve approximately 69,300 passengers. The remaining 350 units of the e-bus fleet will be put on the other 30 routes during the first quarter of 2021. The 120 buses include 12-meter and 9-meter models, with a passenger capacity of 80 and 50 people respectively. They take 1.5 to 2.5 hours to fully charge, with a cruising range that exceeds 300 kilometers on a single charge. Also, each bus comes equipped with a driver safety cabin, TV, WIFI, security cameras, intelligent transport system, mobile phone charging USB interfaces. 

While in Japan, BYD has delivered the first batch of pure E-buses to Huis Ten Bosch Theme Park in Nagasaki, Japan. Following BYD’s recent delivery of a J6 E-bus to Ueno Zoo in Tokyo. 

BYD K9 Bus In 2020, the Japanese government proposed a “carbon neutral” goal of zero carbon emissions by 2050. To achieve its environmental protection goals, Huis Ten Bosch introduced pure electric buses, despite the COVID-19 pandemic. The J6 E-bus is mainly used as a tour bus in the park and officially began operating on December 4, 2020. While, the BYD K9 bus, which started operation in February 2020, is mainly used as a dedicated shuttle bus for hotel guests in the park. With advantages like zero emissions, stable endurance, high safety, and an extremely quiet ride experience, these electric buses provide visitors in the park with a more comfortable and pleasant visit.

Additionally, in Europe, an initial 246 BYD low-floor E-buses, part of a total order for 259 vehicles has been delivered to Keolis Nederland and have entered service on December 13, 2020. The remaining vehicles are scheduled for delivery and start of operation in Spring, 2021.

The new pure-electric, zero-emissions E-bus fleet from BYD will deliver a huge contribution to reducing greenhouse gas emissions. Keolis has calculated an annual CO2 reduction of over 15,755 tonnes.

BYD EuropeThe Keolis fleet comprises BYD’s 12-metre and 13-metre eBus models. The 13-meter model benefits from BYD’s new upgraded battery technology to provide extended range and ‘city-to-city’ capability.

BYD Europe Managing Director, Isbrand Ho said, “This is a proud day for both BYD and Keolis. We selected BYD thanks to the excellent previous experience of the E-bus product in our current regions the province of Utrecht and Almere city. The vehicles meet with the full approval of our passengers and our staff – and that’s very important.”
