The buildings that have been selected are segregated into two categories basis consumption. These include rooftop solar panels more than 40 Kw in 300 buildings. While solar panels under 40 Kw will be set up in the remaining 1000 buildings. BREDA is eyeing a timeline of three months to complete the installations. As per a BREDA official, the target is 65 MW of electricity.

The official was quoted as saying, “Suppose, a government establishment running in a building has a power consumption of 1500 units, then the solar panel installed in the building will produce around 500 units of energy which will be transferred to the power grid. The organization in return has to pay for only 1000 units out of the 1500 units being supplied from the power grid.”

Later, the installations will penetrate into other cities in a phased manner. The subsequent phase may see solar panel installations in Muzaffarpur, Bhagalpur, Gaya and Darbhanga.
