Pune’s Olectra Receives Order for 123 E-Buses from Thane Municipal Transport Undertaking

Pune-based electric bus manufacturer and the Megha Engineering and Infrastructures Ltd (MEIL Group’s) subsidiary company, Olectra Greentech, and its transporter partner named Evey Trans consortium have bagged orders for 123 E-buses worth Rs 185 crore from Thane Municipal Transport Undertaking in Maharashtra.

Olectra Greentech and Evey Trans are both a part of Megha Engineering and Infrastructures Ltd., a company situated in Hyderabad. In a period of nine months, Evey Trans will purchase these e-buses from Olectra Genentech, which include both air-conditioned and non-air-conditioned models.

In Maharashtra, the company already runs its E-buses in Nagpur, Mumbai and Pune. “Thane Municipal Corporation has issued a Letter of Award to the partnership for 123 E-buses. The order is worth Rs. 185 crore rupees according to a statement by Olectra Greentech.

According to K V Pradeep, Chairman and Managing Director of Olectra Greentech, “With this order, our footprint has grown to another city in Maharashtra, where our buses have clocked over three crore kilometers, and greatly decreased the carbon emissions.”

According to the statement, these buses will be provided under a 15-year Gross Cost Contract (GCC) / OPEX model agreement. According to the company, Olectra Greentech will maintain the buses for the term of the deal.

Recently, Olectra Greentech Limited (Olectra) bagged an order worth Rs 500 crore from the Telangana State Road Transport Corporation (TSRTC) for the supply of 300 E-buses under the FAME-II Scheme of the Centre. Olectra and Evey Trans Private Ltd received a Letter of Award (LoA) from TSRTC for e-buses that would be supplied on a gross cost contract (GCC) or OPEX model basis for 12.

In addition, Bhrihanmumbai Electric Supply and Transport (BEST) placed an order with Olectra Greentech, a division of the multi-disciplined conglomerate Megha Engineering and Infrastructures Ltd (Meil), for 2,100 electric buses worth Rs 3,675 crore.
