EV Manufacturer Saera Inks Agreement with Lohia Machines

Delhi-based electric vehicle manufacturer, Saera Electric Auto Private Limited (SEAPL) has expanded its growth by entering into a contract manufacturing agreement with iconic two-wheeler manufacturer Lohia Machines Limited (LML). LML is making its comeback into the Indian market with the production of electric vehicles, which will be manufactured in the Saera Electric Plant in Bawal of Haryana.

LML has recently announced that it will be launching three electric vehicles named Moonshot motorcycle, Star scooter, and Orion bike next year. Under this partnership (Contract Manufacturing Agreement), the vehicles from LML will be manufactured in Saera State-of-Art Plant at Bawal, Haryana, which has an annual production capacity of 2 lakh E2W and 36,000 E3W.

Saera Electric is currently manufacturing its passenger and cargo vehicles in the L3 category in the Bawal plant and gearing up to launch its new product in L 5 category E3W in both passenger and cargo segments, the product is scheduled for launch shortly once the approvals from ICAT are received.

Saera Electric Auto Pvt Ltd (SEAPL) recently commenced production at its Bawal plant in Haryana, which it acquired from American cult bike maker Harley Davidson. The firm, which first introduced e-rickshaw under the Mayuri brand, produced e-rickshaws and e-carts at the plant spread across five acres, where it invested over Rs 350 crore, SEAPL said in a statement.

Recently, Lohia Motors Ltd, or what is popularly known as ‘LML’ invested Rs 350 crore for the same, including a manufacturing facility. The three products, LML uncovered last month (September 2022) were an electric bike, an electric scooter, and a hyperbike. Additionally, LML stated that the product launches were scheduled to take place between February and August 2023.
