Delhi’s EV specific Portal Hopes to give a fillip to EV adoption

To ease the availing of interest subvention on loans taken to purchase electric autos (e-Auto Rickshaws), the Delhi Government has launched ‘My EV Portal’. The move is expected to help the auto rickshaw drivers who look to switch to the electric ones from the CNG.

My EV Portal website has been developed by the Government of Delhi along with Convergence Energy Services Limited (CESL) which has made Delhi the first state to provide such a facility. The portal can be accessed at https://www.myev.org.in

The government statement said, “The interest rate subvention provided on electric autos will provide an additional incentive of Rs 25,000 over the purchase incentive of Rs 30,000.” My EV portal will also be the single window for the purchase and loan of electric autos. The government says though in the present, the plan is running for electric autos only, but it will soon be expanded to cover lithium-ion based e-rickshaws, e-carts and electric light goods vehicles in the state.

Speaking on the development, Delhi’s Transport Minister Kailash Gehlot held that the state government is fulfilling all the promises made by Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal. He added that My EV Portal will allow people to choose various approved vehicle options.

The minister also mentioned that EV adoption has become economical now and the Delhi Government is serious about making Delhi as the capital of electric vehicles.

As per the government, more than 4,200 letters of intent are being awarded to women. This includes a 33 percent reservation for buying e-rickshaws. This too will be extended to electric autos as well.

On March 5, Kailash Gehlot had also released the ‘Residential EV Charging Handbook’ to help the residents of Delhi to avail step by step guidelines to install electric vehicles charging stations in their properties. Electric vehicles charging infrastructure is the backbone for the success of EV adoption in the capital city. As per the government, it’s also working to incentivize EV infrastructure development. Residential Societies and resident welfare associations too are a part of Delhi Government’s EV mission.
