SJVN Green Energy Limited (SGEL), a wholly owned subsidiary of SJVN, has achieved commercial operation of a 100.25 MW segment out of its 1,000 MW Bikaner Solar Power Project as of June 30, 2025, the company said in a regulatory filing. The total capacity under commercial operation now stands at 501.02 MW, with the remaining expected to be commissioned soon, it added.

During the Q4 and FY25 earnings call, SJVN Chairman and Managing Director Bhupender Gupta stated: “Another milestone we have achieved this quarter is the commercial operation of a 320 MW capacity in the 1,000 MW Bikaner Solar Power Project. We recently commissioned the second phase of 78 MW on May 15, 2025. With this, the total operational capacity is now 320 MW, and the remaining capacity will be commissioned over the next two quarters. By October 2025, we expect to have commissioned the full 1,000 MW.”

Providing an update on total capacity additions, the company said: “We have added around 190 MW in FY24–25, primarily from solar. The capacity target for FY25–26 is 4,995 MW. Of this, 1,320 MW will come from our Buxar thermal power plant, which we plan to commission this year, while 3,675 MW will come from renewable sources. Of the 4,995 MW, 320 MW has already been commissioned this financial year.”

Planned Capacity for this year

On the renewable energy projects scheduled for commissioning this year, Gupta said: “We commissioned 320 MW by May, and the remaining 3,675 MW is targeted for the next 10 months.”

He also detailed FY27 targets, “For ‘FY27, we have a — mainly our again the target is one of the hydro projects, which is 69.5 MW. We will be commissioning that during FY26, FY27, and balance around 1,930 MW, that is all the solar projects and the wind projects, which we are targeting to complete during FY26, FY27.”

Outlining the major projects for FY26, Gupta added, ” The two major components are there, which are to be commissioned
this year. One is the Thermal component, the second is the solar one. Thermal, I told you that the first unit we will be commissioning in the month of July this year, and the second one we are commissioning between October to December. So that is the timeline for 1,320 megawatt.

Referring to recent solar capacity additions, he said: “Now, if we talk about the balance, this solar component is 320 MW. I told you already that we commissioned during April and May. Around 241 we commissioned in April, and 78 we commissioned in May 25.”

He elaborated, “So now the balance that is left out is 3,675 MW. So there is a timeline, like in September 2025 we will be commissioning 680 MW of solar. Similarly, in other projects, which timeline if you talk about that is ranging from June 2025 to March 2026. So the detail we can give you because there are around 16 projects. So we upload that on the website and if you come directly also we can also share the details with you for the individual project that the 16 projects.”
