ACME Solar Orders 3.1 GWh BESS From Zhejiang Narada, Trina By Chitrika Grover/ Updated On Mon, Jul 7th, 2025 Highlights : The project is expected to be commissioned over the next 12–18 months across multiple Indian states. Deliveries are planned in a phased manner over the next four to eight months of the current fiscal year. Rajasthan: ACME Solar Completes 300MW Sikar Solar Project ACME Solar has placed an order for more than 3.1 GWh of battery energy storage systems (BESS) with global suppliers Zhejiang Narada and Trina Storage, marking one of the largest battery storage procurements to date. ACME said the BESS order will support deployments across its firm and dispatchable renewable energy (FDRE) and battery-linked projects, which are expected to be commissioned over the next 12–18 months across multiple Indian states. Deliveries are planned in a phased manner over the next four to eight months of the current fiscal year. The company said the order value remains within its budgeted capital expenditure, enhancing cost efficiency while maintaining technical performance and supplier reliability. Early procurement is expected to speed up execution timelines and enable timely revenue realization. The BESS units comply with global safety and performance standards, including IEC and UL. ACME Solar has been expanding its battery storage portfolio. It previously won bids from NHPC for BESS projects in Andhra Pradesh. NHPC awarded ACME two contracts: a 225 MW/450 MWh system at a tariff of ₹2,22,000 per MW per month near the Ghani substation, and a 50 MW/100 MWh system at ₹2,10,000 per MW per month near the Kuppam substation. Several Indian companies are now eyeing offshore partners to boost the growth of BESS projects in the country. For example-Narada Power, for instance, previously secured a 1.4 GWh energy storage order from a large-scale independent power producer (IPP) in India for a major new energy photovoltaic project. China Takes Lead In BESS Deployment Chinese companies are leading the charge in the BESS segment. Rho Motion’s BESS database recorded an increase in the number of tracked projects to 6,500, with the global project pipeline for the next two years reaching 748 GWh. China topped the table with 9.3 GWh deployed, including the largest project—a 1.2 GWh storage project in Hebei Province. Additionally, three non-lithium-ion projects were tracked, all of which were vanadium flow batteries located in China, with a total combined capacity of 90 MWh. The Rho Motion’s report stated, “Grid-paired projects accounted for 63%, solar-paired projects for 21%, and wind-paired projects for 16%. Among the 81 projects that entered operation in January, one 7.3-hour lithium-ion project commenced operations in China, and a 5-hour duration project began operation in Chile. The report also highlighted regional average project durations: 2.7 hours in North America, 1.9 hours in Europe, and approximately 2.4 hours in China.
