NHPC has finalised the results of its 500 MW/1,000 MWh Battery Energy Storage Systems (BESS) tender in Andhra Pradesh (Tranche II), awarding contracts to ACME Solar and Patel Infrastructure nearly four months after issuing the tender.

As per the bidding results, ACME Solar secured two projects: a 225 MW/450 MWh system at a tariff of ₹2,22,000 per MW per month near the Ghani substation, and a 50 MW/100 MWh system at ₹2,10,000 per MW per month near the Kuppam substation.

Patel Infrastructure was awarded a 225 MW/450 MWh project at ₹2,08,000 per MW per month for development at the Jammalamadugu substation. All bidders are required to commission the projects within 18 months from the signing of the Battery Energy Storage Purchase Agreement (BESPA).

According to Rahula Kashyapa, Chief Commercial Officer of ACME  Solar Holdings, “By deploying advanced storage technology at scale, we are proud to support Andhra Pradesh’s vision for sustainable growth and energy security. We look forward to delivering a  project that sets new benchmarks for reliability, efficiency, and positive  community impact.”

Third BESS Tender Awarded This Month

This marks the third BESS tender awarded in June. Earlier, Bihar State Power Generation Company Ltd (BSPGCL) and Tamil Nadu Green Energy Corporation Ltd (TNGECL) finalised similar tenders. Notably, NVVN recorded the lowest BESS tariff so far at ₹2.16 lakh per MW per month in Rajasthan.

TNGECL had earlier awarded its previous BESS tender to state-run NLC India Ltd (NLCIL) for a 250 MW/500 MWh system at a tariff of ₹2,48,000 per MW per month. Bondada Engineering won a 200 MW/400 MWh project at ₹2,46,000 per MW per month, while Oriana Power secured a 50 MW/100 MWh project at the same rate.

Meanwhile, TNGECL awarded its 500 MW/1,000 MWh standalone BESS tender to NLC India Renewables Ltd (NIRL), Bondada Engineering, and Oriana Power. The project, to be implemented under a build-own-operate (BOO) model, will span six locations across Tamil Nadu.

NIRL, a subsidiary of NLCIL, secured the largest share—250 MW/500 MWh—at ₹2,48,000 per MW per month. Bondada Engineering won 200 MW/400 MWh at ₹2,46,000 per MW per month, and Oriana Power received 50 MW/100 MWh at the same rate.
