Eastman Auto and Power Limited has now planned to launch hybrid solar inverters to cater to the demand of hybrid rooftop solar connections under PM Surya Ghar scheme. The firm, which boasts of end-to-end solutions for solar consumers in India now plans to widen their consumers base with the new launch.

Kalpesh Gavali, Global Chief Marketing Officer at Eastman, told Saur Energy about the roadmap of the firm. “We are now focusing more on grid-tied inverters as the market is attractive for solar,” said Kalpesh Gavali, Global Chief Marketing Officer at Eastman. “But we can also see potential in hybrid inverters. After MNRE approved the inclusion of hybrid inverters under the PM Surya Ghar scheme, we expect demand to grow further.”

The company plans to manufacture the hybrid inverters in-house at existing production plants. “We will offer them with batteries or as standalone units, depending on consumer preference,” Gavali said. The firm plans to offer hybrid inverters as part of a combo pack with batteries, as well as standalone units and batteries sold separately.

From off-grid solutions to GTI

Eastman, which describes itself as an end-to-end solar solutions provider, produces a range of components including tubular batteries for off-grid systems, power conditioning units (PCUs), and inverters using MPPT and PWM technologies. A wide range of these products were recently displayed at RenewX in Chennai for the solar consumers.

“Our hero product is our series of grid-tied inverters, ranging from 3 kW to 110 kW,” Gavali said. “We manufacture these in-house and are working on backward integration by producing heat sinks, fans, and PCBs ourselves. We have four dedicated manufacturing facilities for these inverters.”In the PCU segment, the company offers products up to 10 kVA.

Lithium-ion batteries

Eastman has also introduced a lead-acid replacement lithium battery designed for solar users. The battery, which Gavali said is low-maintenance and acid-free, is targeted at off-grid and hybrid users. The company’s lithium battery portfolio includes wall-mounted and rack-type units, ranging from 2.5 kWh to 20 kWh.

“Industries are shifting from lead-acid to lithium-ion, and we are producing these batteries in India,” he said. The company also manufactures solar panels, completing what it calls a full range of solar products for the Indian market.
