Gujarat based Indian electric vehicle player Atul Greentech Private Limited (AGPL) has announced that the company has collaborated with Honda Power Pack Energy India Private Limited and Valeo to develop electric vehicles in India that will feature battery swapping solutions. Atul Greentech is a subsidiary of Atul Auto Limited, which has specialised in three wheeler autos till now.

Atul Greentech has informed that the plan is to develop a prototype version of both cargo and passenger electric three-wheelers. The company will employ Honda Mobile Power Pack e: Swap which is a swappable battery pack, and powertrain system from Valeo.

Atul Auto Limited is listed on Indian Stock Exchanges. The company has mentioned about the upcoming venture to the National Stock Exchange, Mumba. Atul Auto said in its filing, “The vehicle with swapping battery will be equipped with Valeo’s integrated compact electric powertrain system.” Soon after the announcement, the shares of Atul Auto took a good 16 per cent jump in the intraday trading on April 21, 2022.

Atul Greentech says that the collaboration is aimed to enlarge product offering and to better service the needs of the last mile mobility customers.

Atul Greentech also held that once the field trials are successful, the electric auto will be launched.

Atul Greentech has been engaged in designing and developing innovative solutions for last-mile electric mobility. It is meant for both domestic as well as export markets. Over the last couple of years, AGPL has developed automotive-grade fixed thermal battery solutions, Battery Management Systems and Vehicle Telematics Solutions.

Valeo is a France-based technology company known for designing solutions for smart mobility across the world. Valeo will provide its 48V integrated compact electric powertrain system and the Powertrain Control Unit for the upcoming cargo and passenger three-wheeler of Atul Greentech. The e-three wheeler will soon be launched in India.

On the other hand, Honda Power Pack Energy India Pvt. Ltd. is an absolute subsidiary of Japan-based Honda Motor Co. Ltd. Honda had recently said that it will commence battery sharing service in India. This will begin with electric three-wheelers.
