Tata Power has achieved a rare feat of installing 450+ EZ EV charging outlets along more than 350 national routes in the nation. According to the company, the major national highways now have Tata Power EZ EV charging stations installed on them, including the longest highway (NH 44 connecting J&K to Tamil Nadu), the busiest highway (NH 19 linking Delhi, UP, Bihar, West Bengal, and Jharkhand), and other highways linking important states in India’s south, north, east, and west (NH 65, NH 48, NH 16, etc.).

According to the company’s nationwide strategy, charging stations would be set up from Kashmir to Kanyakumari in the west and from Guwahati to Dwarka and Bikaner in the east. Since Tata Power EZ charging points have been widely implemented, EV owners may now travel easily both inside and between states (through national roads). These 450+ EV charging stations/ outlets have been installed in more than 25 states and 5 union territories at various locations, such as hotels, shopping malls, car dealerships, etc., to make charging simple, reduce range anxiety, and encourage seamless green, and sustainable transportation.

Tata Power has also established a cutting-edge Network Operations Center for the efficient administration of charging stations across India (NOC). Strong charging support is made possible by the NOC. In addition to being connected with the digital framework that enables Tata Power’s EV charging services, the center maintains a real-time communication link with all onboard chargers. It is essential for the prompt settlement of any technical issues by maintenance teams and the proactive detection of issues. This center is in charge of prompt issue resolution, proactive charging infrastructure maintenance planning, and back-end system support.

Speaking about this milestone, Dr. Praveer Sinha, CEO & MD, of Tata Power, said “We are committed to promoting sustainable mobility in the country and are happy to set up more than 450+ EZ Charging outlets across our national highways. This marks our presence on 60% of the existing highways.”

Also, Tata Power said, “Tata Power EZ Charge Mobile app supports the shift to e-mobility and provides several features that give EV consumers a smooth EV charging experience. We are implementing public/semi-public EV charging stations in urban regions at significant apartment buildings, shopping centers, and gas stations to promote greater adoption among urban populations. In Mumbai, Tata Power recently took things a step further by installing more than 150 charging stations that use clean energy.”

The company’s EV charging initiatives are in line with the National Electric Mobility Mission Plan (NEMMP) of the Government of India, which aims to create an infrastructure for charging electric vehicles using the most up-to-date technology platform and to make access to those charging stations for electric vehicles simple. Tata Power claims that it intends to have more than 6500 charging stations by FY 23 to continue enabling sustainable mobility in India. Currently, Tata Power has a robust network of more than 24,000 public and semi-public chargers spread across 300 cities, villages, and national highways, as well as more than 240 electric bus charging stations and over 21000 home chargers (for private use).
