Nagpur Municipal Corp Tenders for 40 Electric Buses Again

Nagpur Municipal Corp has re-issued its RfP for the selection of bus operator for the procurement of 40 electric buses and related charging infrastructure

The Nagpur Municipal Corporation (NMC) has re-issued its Request for Proposal (RfP) for the selection of bus operator for the procurement of 40 electric buses and related charging infrastructure

The scope of work for the selected bidders will include

  1. the manufacture and supply of electric buses, carryout preventive and breakdown maintenance of buses and operate buses on routes specified by the authority.
  2. Develop Charging infrastructure including Development, Supply and Erection of Transformers and all Necessary Electrical systems, sub-systems, accessories and parts as required for charging Infrastructure, Provide Chargers and maintain complete charging infrastructure including civil infrastructure for undertaking preventive and breakdown maintenance.

The Authority shall pay for the cost of electricity consumed in charging of the electric buses and the same shall be debited to the operator in his monthly bills. The Bidders have to submit their quotes per KM cost including electricity charges for charging the buses.

The last date for bid submission is January 21, 2019, and the techno-commercial bids will be opened on January 22, 2019. All bidders must submit an Earnest Money Deposit of Rs 29.88 lakh along with their bids.

The selected bidder may be provided with demand incentives under the FAME-II scheme by NMC. However, it will be the bidders’ responsibility to meet the criteria to avail incentives as per the FAME-II scheme, and the maximum demand incentive available will be Rs 45 lakh. The bidder has to bear the entire initial cost of the electric bus and the subsidy will be subsequently transferred to the bidder. Further, Bidder shall facilitate the Authority to apply and avail subsidy under FAME-India Scheme under Phase -II.

The Authority intends to deploy electric buses for public transport services within the cities and their nearby satellite suburban towns as per the routes may be decided by the Authority before Commercial Operation Date (COD). The operators will be provided time to assess the designed routes.
