The last-mile transportation provider in India, Flipkart, has announced a partnership with Magenta Mobility, a company located in Karnataka that offers electric mobility solutions. Through this partnership, Magenta Mobility will officially enter Delhi-NCR and add over 400 electric cargo cars to the Flipkart fleet there.

This fleet deployment goes above and beyond what Magenta currently manages for Flipkart in Bengaluru. A flag-off ceremony for cargo vehicles held at Flipkart’s hub in Inayatpur before the announcement was presided over by Randheer Singh from NITI Ayog, Amit Kumar from Flipkart, Sophia Nadur from BP Ventures, Pooja Mehta from JITO Angel Network, and Maxson Lewis from Magenta Mobility.

In Bengaluru, Hyderabad, and Mumbai, Magenta Mobility runs an electric fleet of more than 500 vehicles for clients in e-commerce, grocery delivery, FMCG, food, and pharmaceuticals. According to the company, Magenta Transportation plans to set up a fleet of more than 500 electric vehicles in Delhi to serve the needs of businesses eager to make the switch to sustainable mobility this year.

While flagging off the event, Randheer Singh, Director of Electric Mobility and ACC Program at NITI Aayog said, “On World EV Aay, it is important for us at NITI Ayog to support endeavors for the adoption of electric mobility, especially in the last mile logistics. It is also important to be part of events where such adoption is happening on the ground. It gives me immense pleasure to be part of an important event where we have multiple stakeholders coming together to make Delhi NCR emission-free.”

As per the collaboration document, Flipkart will make use of Magenta’s electric cargo fleets, which include the recently released Mahindra Zor Grand and a few other select OEMs, to hasten the adoption of EVs for last-mile logistics.

In keeping with its commitment to the Climate Group’s EV100 project, the electrification of the logistics fleet is a crucial component of Flipkart’s greater sustainability ambition. The partnership supports Flipkart’s aspirations to add more than 25,000 EVs to its supply chain to completely switch to e-mobility by 2030.

HPCL, prominent investors JAN (JITO Angel Network), LetsVenture, and well-known Indian American philanthropist Dr. Kiran Patel are all supporting Magenta, a Series A funded firm.

Recently, Euler Motor tied up with Magenta for the deployment of 1000 HiLoad electric vehicles – the electric three-wheeler cargo vehicles.
