Battery-Swapping Firm Chargeup Hosts EV Mela in Delhi

Recently in Delhi, battery-swapping company Chargeup held its first-ever EV Mela in Uttam Nagar, West Delhi. NBFCs, EV OEMs, e-commerce and food commerce businesses like Hero Electric, Lohia Auto, Shema Electric, GEM, PaisaLo, Zomato, Blinkit, Vahan, Rapido, and Uber were among the stakeholders that gathered at the special event.

This was the first time a company like Chargeup had ever brought together key players in the EV ecosystem for a project meant to benefit last-mile mobility drivers. The two-day mela was designed to allow two and three-wheeler drivers to test drive vehicles, choose items, and even get loans approved right away. The process of applying led to the onboarding of the chosen drivers with companies like Zomato, Blinkit, Rapido, and Uber, among others, and the drivers who applied for the loans also became eligible for a lucky draw.

Jogi Ram Jain, former Chairman of the NDMC Standing Committee was the event’s chief guest. Stakeholders from the industry participated in an intriguing panel discussion, where they shared their opinions and predictions for the EV ecosystem’s future. Varun Goenka, Co-Founder, and CEO of Chargeup, Ayush Lohia, CEO of Lohia Auto, Nitin Bhardwaj, Institutional Sales Manager for Hero Electric, Rajeev Seth, VP-MSME for PaisoLo Digital, and Shikhar Agarwal, Program Manager for Electric Vehicles at Zomato, were the panelists for the discussion.

Varun Goenka, Co-founder, and CEO of Chargeup said, “At Chargeup, we were trying to support the growth of last-mile mobility drivers by eliminating the cost and convenience challenges associated with adopting an EV. Due to our activities, EV drivers no longer had range anxiety thanks to convenient battery-switching services. Additionally, we made it possible for their operational range and earning potential to nearly double, improving both the financial stability and standard of living for EV drivers and their families.”

According to Shikhar Agarwal, Program Manager – EVs at Zomato, “We supply millions of meals across India as one of the top food delivery applications. Our goal is to gradually lower our logistics’ carbon footprint. We want to explore the variety of EVs offered in the 2 and 3-wheeler segments through this first-of-its-kind EV Mela event by Chargeup, and we want to inspire drivers to acquire EVs and join us as delivery partners.”
