Tenders Issued for Solar Systems at 2 Kerala Based Universities

Two tenders have been issued for setting up of solar PV power plants at the Mahatma Gandhi University Campus in Kottayam, and CUSAT in Kochi, Kerala

Two tenders have been issued for setting up of solar PV power plants at two university campuses in Kerala. The first tender is for a 400 kW rooftop solar plant at the Mahatma Gandhi University Campus in Kottayam. And, the second tender is for a 735 kWp solar PV system at the Cochin University of Science and Technology (CUSAT) in Kochi.

WAPCOS Ltd, on behalf of MG University, has issued the tender inviting bids from eligible bidders for setting up of the 400 kWp rooftop solar plant at the university campus. The scope of work also lists that the developers will also be responsive to the successful operation and maintenance of the plant for a period of 3 years or until March 31, 2024.

The last date for bid submission is November 16, 2020, and the techno-commercial bids will be opened on November 17, 2020. All bidders are also required to submit an Earnest Money Deposit of Rs 50 thousand along with their birds.

To be eligible for participation, the bidders must have an average annual financial turnover of at least Rs 15 lakh of work during the immediate last 3 consecutive financial years ending 2018-19. And the contractor should also have satisfactorily completed the works as mentioned below during the last seven years ending the previous day of the last date of submission of tender.

One similar completed work of supply and installation including maintenance of 75 kWp on grid solar power plant. Or

Two similar completed works of supply and installation including maintenance of 47 kWp on grid solar power plant. Or

Three similar completed works of supply and installation including maintenance of 38 kWp on grid solar power plant.

The second tender has been issued by the Roads and Bridges Development Corporation of Kerala (RBDCK) for the establishment of a 735 kWp solar system at CUSAT.

The Higher Education Department of Government of Kerala has accorded administrative sanction for developing CUSAT as International Centre of Excellence in Academics & Research. And the Government of Kerala has authorised CUSAT to nominate RBDCK as the SPV for the civil and electrical works for developing CUSAT as an International Center of Excellence in Academics & Research.

The scope of work for the selected bidders will include the design, supply, installation, testing, commissioning of 735 kWp DC grid-connected solar PV system at CUSAT. The developers will also be responsible for the successful maintenance of the solar system for a period of 5 years.

The estimated cost of the project is Rs 3.62 crore, and all bidders are required to submit an Earnest Money Deposit of Rs 1 lakh along with their bids. The developers will have a period of 6 months to complete the work on the installation of the project.

The last date for bid submission is also November 16, 2020, and the techno-commercial bids will be opened on November 18, 2020. A pre-bid meeting has been scheduled for November 4, 2020, to address the concerns raised by prospective bidders.
