Shell Energy To Invest Rs 2200cr For Renewable Projects in Gujarat

Shell Energy India has joined hands with the State government of Gujarat, where it will invest Rs 2200 crore to set up a renewable energy facility. The MoU towards this was signed in the presence of Gujarat Chief Minister Bhupendra Patel and Minister of State, Harsh Sanghavi.

The renewable energy generation project will be established on a 1200 acre land in Banaskantha district of North Gujarat. In the process, the project will pave the way for employment opportunities for over 1000 people. The plant will commence commercial production in 2026. The land requirement projections would seem to indicate a 300 MW plus solar project possibly.

Gujarat Chief Minister Bhupendra Patel spoke about Gujarat as a favoured destination for investments in renewable energy, “In the renewable Energy sector, Gujarat has emerged as a leading state. Business friendly policies and remarkable basic and infrastructural services have made Gujarat the first investment choice for the investors.”

In addition to this, Shell will also be investing another INR 800 crore towards fuel retailing and electric vehicle recharge stations across Gujarat. This will create employment opportunities for close to 2000 people. This project will kickstart operations by 2027.

Earlier, Hyundai Motor India Limited (HMIL) and Shell India entered into a partnership to expand the charging infrastructure for electric vehicles in India. The two firms have partnered up to install 60 kW DC Fast Chargers across 36 Electric Vehicle (EV) dealerships of Hyundai Motor India.
