Hyundai Motor India Limited (HMIL) and Shell India have entered into a partnership to expand the charging infrastructure for electric vehicles in India. The two firms have partnered up to install 60 kW DC Fast Chargers across 36 Electric Vehicle (EV) dealerships of Hyundai Motor India.

Shell has also set sights on establishing DC 120 kW fast chargers in the dealerships in a bid to replace the 60 kW chargers. The agreement was signed at HMIL’s headquarters in Gurugram, Haryana.

Further, Hyundai has introduced its own charging management system. Regardless of the brand, it will enable all electric vehicle owners to power up their vehicles.

At present, Hyundai boasts 72 EV dealerships that span across 45 Indian cities. The Indian EV market has two electric vehicles from the brand.

A week ago, Hyundai Motor intended to augment its EV market in India. The firm has said that it is looking to make an investment worth Rs 20,000 crore for the upgradation of its facilities in Tamil Nadu. The investment will take place in a phased manner. It has also revealed that it will establish an EV battery pack assembly unit in the southern state.
