Nordex Wins Orders Worth 259 MW in Turkey and Germany

The Nordex Group has announced two new project wins in Turkey and Germany for a combined 259 MW of wind energy capacity.

The first order has been received from the Caba Group for 39 – N133/4800 turbines from the Delta4000 series for the second construction phase of the “Istanbul” wind farm. The order also includes a Premium Service contract for the turbines covering a period of 15 years.

The Nordex Group had already received an order in 2019 for the first 24 MW construction phase “Istanbul-I” with five N133/4800 turbines, where currently the first turbine is being installed and the remaining turbines are under construction. The firm is now supplying a further 39 turbines of the same turbine type for the second construction phase totalling 187 MW. Delivery of the turbines for this second construction phase is scheduled for late summer 2021.

The wind farm, located 50 kilometres northwest of Istanbul on the Black Sea, will comprise 44 turbines once completed. This makes the 211 MW wind farm “Istanbul” the largest single licensed project in Turkey to date. With an average annual wind speed on site of 8 metres per second, the wind farm is expected to produce an annual yield of 850 GWh.

The second order has been received from German project developer Dirkshof for twenty N117/3600 turbines for the citizen wind farm ‘Reussenkoege’ in Germany. The order also includes a Premium Service contract covering a period of five years with a three-time option to extend by a further five years.

The citizen wind farm “Reussenkoege” is a repowering project in North Friesland near the North Sea coast. The plan is to replace turbines of the 2MW class. The installation of the twenty N117/3600 turbines, each with a capacity of 3.6 MW and a hub height of 91 metres, will commence in 2021. The commissioning of the last turbine is scheduled for 2022.

In the German auction held for onshore wind turbines in December 2020, Dirkshof was awarded the contract for the 20-turbine Reussenkoege project. Nordex in Turkey and Germany
