The company made a record quarterly addition, up 112% from 354 MW in Q1 FY25, it added. The company said that with the Q1 FY26 commissioning, its total utility-scale operational capacity now stands at 5.6 GW, including 4.6 GW solar and 1 GW wind. It shared the company’s further plans to commission 1.7 GW of its utility-owned capacity during FY26, apart from 1 GW of third-party projects. Tata Power said it aims to reach 7.3 GW of total operational capacity by the end of FY26, including 5.6 GW of solar and 1.7 GW of wind. It attributed its latest achievement to cost-optimised execution backed by a robust supply chain, agile project delivery, and strong vendor partnerships. TATA Power recently saw one of the largest single additions in the latest ALMM list. It brought 5,035 MW of new capacity online, raising its total to 10,257 MW—the second highest among listed firms, according to the latest list from MNRE. Moreover, according to the latest list, Tata Power brought the highest new capacity with an over 5 GW addition, taking its total capacity to 10.2 GW. The rush to add capacity in Q1 is no surprise, considering the reduction of one of the most prized incentives in the firm of 100% waiver on ISTS charges for projects commissioned till June 30. Post that, the waiver will be reduced to 75%, and progressively to zero by 2028. The Q1 FY26 installations propelled TPREL to a nationwide total of 2,04,443 rooftop solar installations, with cumulative capacity surpassing 3.4 GW. In that context, the 750 odd MW addition in Q1 is even more impressive. RE Projects Targeted Tata Power has a target to have nearly 70% clean and green energy by 2030 including the pumped hydro project where the work has already started in the 1,000 MW Bhivpuri project. Work on 1,800 megawatts Shirawata pumped hydro will start in the later part of the year. The 600 MW Khorlochhu project in Bhutan also saw work start in January, though completion date there is 2029.
