The Rajasthan Electricity Regulatory Commission (RERC) in its latest order declined to give an immediate relief to the discoms of Rajasthan in the matter of levying Green Energy tariffs. Earlier, the Jaipur Vidyut Vitran Nigam Limited (JVVNL) moved a petition on behalf of other major discoms in the state. This included petitions from the Ajmer Vidyut Vitran Nigam Limited (AVVNL) and Jodhpur Vidyut Vitran Nigam Limited (JdVVNL) too.

The petitioners sought approval from the RERC for levying Green Energy tariff for the supply of renewable energy to consumers, opting for 100 percent green energy to meet their demands under the RERC (Terms and Conditions for Determination of Tariff) Regulations, 2019 with other guidelines and directions issued by RERC from time to time including the Green Energy Open Access Rules, 2022.

The State Commission said that the it further observed that RERC (Terms and Conditions for Tariff determination from Renewable Energy Sources)(First Amendment) Regulations, 2023. It said that the rules provide that the tariff for the green energy should be determined considering various cost components of the Distribution Licensee.

“Since the cost component of the ARR are determined by the Commission based on ARR/Tariff petitions, therefore it would be appropriate that the Discoms should file the proposal for levying Green Power Tariff alongwith their ARR & Tariff petition for FY 2024-25,” the order from the RERC read.

“Therefore, the Commission directs Discoms to file proposal for levying Green Power tariff along with the aforesaid petition considering various cost components. Accordingly, the above petition is disposed of in above terms,” the RERC order said.
