KP Energy has partnered with CLP India to develop a 250.8 MW wind project in Dwarka, Gujarat. CLP India has won the project capacity in the tranche VIII auctions conducted by the Solar Energy Corporation of India (SECI).

CLP India, which is one of the largest foreign investors in the Indian power sector had previously in June this year signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with KP Energy for development of wind sites in the range of 50 MW – 300 MW. Based on the said MoU, KP Energy Limited had offered the Sidhpur Site in Dwarka to CLP India for its evaluation.

Pursuant to the same, a pre-bid collaboration and development agreement was signed between the two firms for a wind site of approximately 300MW for SECI bid that CLP had submitted.

The 250.8 MW plant will be developed at the aforementioned Sidhpur Site and it is proposed that the plant will be connected to the ISTS-network substation in Jam Khambahaliya, Gujarat.

KP Energy, as part of its arrangement with CLP India for the said 250.8 MW wind project, will be responsible for providing turnkey balance of plant solution for the project, including procuring wind site locations, obtaining necessary approvals and development permits, wind data management, wind farm development works, electrical network as well as the complete power evacuation infrastructure comprising of 220kV dedicated lines and pooling substation at the site.

According to the corporate filing made by the company, “this is the first instance where KP Energy has tied up directly with an independent power producer for wind farm development. Previously, such arrangements were done through OEMs (original equipment manufacturers).”

Since 2002, CLP India has diversified its generation portfolio which includes renewable and conventional energy, aggregating over 3,000 MW. CLP India’s 14 wind energy projects and three solar energy projects are spread across seven states of the country.
