Eight Solar Parks with 4995 MW Capacity in Bundelkhand Get Green Signal Power & Energy Consultants Wins 800 MW Solar Power Project in Uttar Pradesh

MNRE Minister R.K. Singh revealed in the Lok Sabha today that eight solar parks with a cumulative of 4995 MW have been approved in the Bundelkhand region. This has been done with an aim to enhance the generation of solar energy.

The solar parks that have been approved entail the Jalaun Solar Park for 1200 MW, Chitrakoot Solar Park for 800 MW, Kalpi Solar Park for 65 MW, Lalitpur Solar Park for 600 MW, Jhansi Solar Park for another 600 MW. The remaining ones include UP Solar Park (Jalaun District site) for 150 MW, Chhatarpur Solar Park for 950 MW and finally Barethi Solar Park for 630 MW.

The establishment of these solar power projects will impact region by augmenting electricity generation, contributing to economic development while also creating local direct and indirect employment, etc.

Last year, the UP government rolled out its Solar Energy Policy 2022, as per which, the state has set sights on achieving the goal of 22,000 MW solar power projects up to 2026-27. Of this, utility scale solar Projects/parks are to account for 14000 Megawatt.

The State Government said that it would encourage the development of integrated solar parks by making use of waste lands in the state generation. An emphasis will also be laid upon private participation in development of solar parks as project developers will be provided “plug and play” options in solar parks being set up. In Bundelkhand region, the Green Energy Corridor is also being set up. The capacity of the Corridor will be enhancedbasis the private investment flowing into the State.

The Indian government has been giving a push to development of solar parks through Ultra Mega Solar Park scheme of MNRE.
