Odisha To Bring New EV Policy Soon, Says Deputy CM By Manish Kumar/ Updated On Thu, May 15th, 2025 Odisha To Bring New EV Policy Soon, Says Deputy CM Odisha is now all set to formulate its new Electric Vehicle (EV) Policy for the state, Deputy Chief Minister and Energy Minister K.V. Singhdeo said. This comes close to the expiry of its last EV policy in 2026. The state had earlier floated its Odisha Electric Vehicle (EV) Policy in 2021 to spur the growth of EVs in the state. The policy will now expire on February 11, 2026. He said that the state is strengthening its infrastructure to support electric vehicle (EV) charging stations and solar power generation as part of its push toward clean energy. Singhdeo added that the Odisha EV Policy would be introduced soon to guide the development of electric mobility in the state. Meeting With Servotech During the meeting, representatives from Servotech, a company involved in renewable energy, presented their plans for solar power generation and EV station infrastructure in Odisha. The Servotech team was earlier taken on a field visit to assess the state’s infrastructure. The meeting was attended by Principal Secretary of the Finance Department Saswat Kumar Mishra, Gridco Managing Director Trilochana Panda, Servotech MD Raman Bhatia, company executive Nitin Pereira, and senior officials from the Energy Department, Gridco, and Tata Power. Growth In Green Energy Speaking at a meeting in the conference hall of Lok Seva Bhavan, Singhdeo said the initiative aligns with India’s vision of a developed and energy-secure India. “Under the PM Surya Ghar Yojana, rooftop solar panel installations with subsidies are underway. Simultaneously, preparations are being made to set up EV charging stations across the state,” he said. “Odisha’s power infrastructure is robust. Three of the state’s DISCOMs rank among the top 10 power distribution companies in the country, with another in the top 15,” Singhdeo said, noting that even the state of Uttar Pradesh has shown interest in adopting Odisha’s electricity management model.
