CATL & Co. Break Ground on $6 Bn Battery Integration Project By Junaid Shah/ Updated On Wed, Jul 2nd, 2025 Highlights : The Karawang-based Battery Integration Project will deliver 6.9 GWh of annual production capacity in its first phase In a landmark development for Indonesia’s clean energy ambitions, Ningbo Contemporary Brunp Lygend Co., Ltd. (CBL) – a subsidiary of Brunp, which itself is under battery giant CATL – has officially broken ground on the Indonesia Battery Integration Project in Karawang, West Java. The project is being developed in collaboration with PT Aneka Tambang Tbk (ANTAM) and Indonesia Battery Corporation (IBC). USD 6 Billion Full-Value Chain Facility With an investment approaching USD 6 billion, the Indonesia Battery Integration Project spans over 2,000 hectares, making it one of the most comprehensive battery supply chain initiatives undertaken in Southeast Asia. The project encompasses the entire battery value chain, including nickel mining and processing, production of battery materials, battery cell manufacturing, and battery recycling. Its operations are strategically distributed across East Halmahera in North Maluku Province and Karawang in West Java Province, allowing the project to effectively utilise local natural resources and industrial infrastructure for maximum efficiency and regional impact. First Phase: 6.9 GWh Battery Manufacturing Capacity The Karawang-based battery plant is set to deliver 6.9 GWh of annual production capacity in its first phase. Leveraging CATL’s Lighthouse Factory standards and Extreme Manufacturing expertise, the facility aims to ensure high-efficiency, high-quality output, strengthening Indonesia’s position in the global electric mobility supply chain.
