NTPC Green Floats 130 MW/520 MWh BESS Tender In Telangana By Chitrika Grover/ Updated On Fri, May 2nd, 2025 Highlights : NTPC Green has sought bids up till, June 3, 2025. NTPC Green Floats 130 MW/520 MWhr BESS Tender In Telangana NTPC Green has issued an EPC Tender for developing 130 MW /520 MWhr Battery Energy Storage System (BESS) on a turnkey basis. The project is divided into two blocks which include a Ramagundam: 100 MW /400 MWhr under Block-1 and Sipat 30 MW /120 MWhr under Block-2. NTPC Green has sought bids up till, June 3, 2025. The tender further mentioned, “At NTPC Ramagundam (100 MW / 400 MWh) and Sipat (30 MW / 120 MWh) Battery Energy Storage System (BESS). The bidder would undertake the EPC activity for developing a grid-connected 130 MW/520 MWh battery Energy Storage System (BESS) on a turnkey basis.” Scope Of Work NTPC Green mandated the bidder to undertake the Comprehensive Operation and Maintenance (O&M) of the Battery Energy Storage System (BESS) for 15 years, starting from the successful completion of the trial run. The tender specifies that the bidder must conduct grid compliance studies, reactive power compensation, and ensure power quality compliance for the entire BESS system up to the 400 KV/220 KV grid interconnection point at the NTPC project’s switchyard. Furthermore, the bidder will be tasked with providing all necessary equipment, components, and services to install a fully operational BESS. The tender requires the BESS to be integrated at the 33 kV pooling substation of the solar plant, with the BESS capacity and rated AC discharge capacity specified at the point of injection/metering. The system should be housed in standardized containers, each with a minimum DC capacity of 5 MWh. Telangana has become a key area for NTPC, with the commissioning of its largest floating solar plant—100 MW—at Ramagundam in 2022. In addition, the state has seen an uptick in the tendering process for BESS projects. In early 2025, Telangana awarded a 500 MWh BESS project tender, offering a tariff in the range of Rs. 2.40-2.45 lakh/MW/month. This is one of the first tenders released by Telangana Genco (TGGENCO) for a 500 MWh (250 MW x 2 hours) standalone BESS project.
