Gujarat’s Renon Launches India’s First Dedicated 2W-EV Platform ‘ALPHA’

Gujarat-based firm Renon India, an energy storage provider company, has announced the release of its intelligent Alpha swappable battery architecture for high-performance E-two-wheelers. This Li-ion battery pack uses NMC chemistry, has a nominal voltage of 50.4 V, and a rated energy of 2.01 kWh. It can also be converted to use LFP chemistry with the same footprint. Numerous patented technologies, ranging from sensor circuits to cell interconnects, are present on the alpha platform. This platform will make use of the telematics hardware and in-house created battery management system of Renon. It is designed in a way that allows for seamless integration with the majority of the current switching systems.

With phase change material, the battery includes a three-layer safety net for thermal runaway situations. Alpha battery packs are incredibly dependable, safe, and designed to handle Indian driving conditions thanks to their intelligent adjustable battery management system, precise SOC and SOH algorithms for range calculation, and CAN 2.0 connection.

Since its founding in 2019, Renon India has experienced substantial growth. Their Li-ion battery pack for low and medium-speed EVs, Groot, was just released. The rated energy of the thermally optimised battery packs is 2.04 kWh, with a nominal voltage of 57.6 V. Groot is outfitted with a display for the SOC and SOH algorithms for accurate data collecting and range calculation in addition to a sophisticated adjustable battery management system.

With production technologies capable of producing more than 3,000 packs per month, the company anticipates reaching a 350+ MWh manufacturing line capacity milestone soon.

Gujarat’s Renon India has had an upward growth curve, from nameplate stationary pack capacity to the construction of an R&D center in Bengaluru in 2021. The business hopes to soon reach the milestone of 500+ MWh of production line capacity, with production technology able to produce 3000+ packs each month. Its current priorities include internal BMS development and research into swappable battery packs.
