EV Rental Firm Bounce And Howdyy Plan To Deploy 10,000 e-Scooters

Howdyy and EV rental firm Bounce Share have rolled out their plans to deploy over 10,000 e-scooters in the next two years. A joint statement released by both the companies on June 21 reads that the deployment of vehicles will spread across the metropolis like Bengaluru, Mumbai, Pune, Chennai, and Hyderabad, leaving the national capital Delhi out, though. Bengaluru-based Howdyy, a logistics startup started in 2020, has carved itself a niche in providing an electric vehicle-driven fleet for mid and last-mile deliveries.

Aashirwad, founder-CEO of Howdyy, has been quoted by the statement as saying, “We are thrilled to partner with Bounce for this strategic collaboration. Their market presence will help us in covering the last-mile delivery space in at least five cities. The collaboration will help us go a long way by carving the right niche in the domestic logistics industry. We look forward to more such tie-ups in the near future,”.

Echoing the refrain, Anil G, co-founder and Chief Operating Officer of Bounce, added, “With fuel prices rising and an increase in carbon emission, it is high time for the logistics industry in the country to focus on contributing to sustainable mobility. Our partnership with Howdyy is one step forward towards sustainable mobility solutions,”. The EV rental arm of Bounce electric two-wheeler maker, Bengaluru-headquartered Bounce Share enjoys support of global investors, like Falcon Edge, Sequoia Capital, Accel NSE -2.89 %, B-CAP, and Qualcomm, having rolled out its first consumer electric scooter Infinity E along with its battery-swapping network Bounce Infinity last December, cutting down 1250 million tonnes of carbon emission so far.

Bounce Infinity claims to be India’s first electric Scooter that doesn’t need charging. A rider can swap the drained battery with a charged one at a Bounce swapping station and keep going. Bounce’s swapping stations work on the lines of a fuel station with charged and ready-to-go batteries that delivery personnel can easily swap with their near-empty batteries in a few minutes, the EV rental firm said. With this infrastructure in place, delivery personnel wouldn’t have to wait for the scooter to charge or range anxiety, it added. At present, it is operating in Bangalore, Vijaywada and Hyderabad.
