Adani Total Gas Ltd (AGTL) has launched its first electric vehicles’ charging station in Ahmedabad, Gujarat, and thus forayed into the infrastructure segment of electric vehicles.

As per the official statement of AGTL, the EV charging station is located at the CNG station of AGTL at Maninagar in Ahmedabad. The company says that the charging station will enable quick turnaround time for EV owners with best-in-class fast charging technology and convenient use of digital platforms.

ATGL is a joint venture between Adani Group and TotalEnergies SE, which is a French energy player. AGTL is presently India’s largest private CNG and piped cooking gas distributor as the company sells CNG to automobiles and piped natural gas to households in as many as 19 geographical areas.

Suresh P Manglani, CEO of ATGL, said, “The commencement of EV business with setting up the first charging station in Ahmedabad is yet another milestone for Adani Total Gas to provide choice of newer green fuel to the larger consumer base in India while timely ceasing an emerging business opportunity aligned to our vision to offer sustainable fuelling solutions on across all major cities and towns in India.”

The company informed that it has the strategic fit to venture into electric mobility and looks to capture a significant share of the EV market. It will be expanding the network of charging stations to about 1,500. Based on demand generation and momentum building of the electric vehicles ecosystem in India, the company will go beyond 1,500 charging stations.

“The global experience of TotalEnergies SE in the EV infrastructure space is another factor that adds competitive edge to ATGL’s vision as it eyes market leadership in the space,” said the ATGL. The company is already benefiting from the renewable power generated by Adani Group and can leverage more clean energy in future for its businesses.
