Juniper Green Energy has recently commissioned an additional 71 MWp of capacity at its solar power project in Chapalgaon, Maharashtra, marking the completion of the 217 MWp Chapalgaon Solar PV Project. The project would supply electricity to the Maharashtra State Electricity Distribution Company (MSEDCL) through Juniper Green's subsidiary, Juniper Green Ray Two Private Limited.
With this, Juniper Green Energy has commissioned the project across two phases — 145.99 MWp on 22 May 2025, followed by 71 MWp on 23 June 2025 — achieving full capacity within just four months of signing the Power Purchase Agreement (PPA). This execution brings the entire project online nearly 18 months ahead of its scheduled commissioning date.
“With the Chapalgaon project now fully operational, Juniper Green Energy once again proves its track record of commissioning projects ahead of schedule and highlights our ability to meaningfully contribute to India’s energy demands for clean energy solutions,” said Ankush Malik, Chief Executive Officer, Juniper Green Energy.
Juniper Expands Presence Across Maharashtra
Earlier this year, Juniper Green commissioned the solar component of its hybrid project in Maharashtra nearly 1.5 years ahead of schedule. The 59 MWp/42 MW solar unit of the 75 MW hybrid project in Karanja (Ghadge), Wardha district, was brought online between June 6–17, well before its scheduled commercial operation date (SCOD).
The project, known as Juniper Green Power Five, has a power purchase agreement (PPA) with the Maharashtra State Electricity Distribution Company Limited (MSEDCL) for 75 MW, signed on November 18, 2024. The hybrid facility also included 26.4 MW of wind capacity, with full commissioning expected by November 17, 2026.
The early commissioning of the solar component will enable Juniper Green to claim a 100% interstate transmission system (ISTS) waiver on transmission charges, as per government guidelines. The waiver applies to renewable energy projects commissioned before June 30, 2025.
