TPREL Signs PPAs with MSEDCL for 200 MW & 150 MW Solar Projects Tata Power Renewable Energy to Set Up 41 MW Captive Solar Plant for 4.3 GW Solar Manufacturing Unit in Tamil Nadu

Tata Power Renewable Energy Limited (TPREL), a firm that delves into the renewable energy sector and a subsidiary of Tata Power, has signed two significant Power Purchase Agreements (PPAs) with Maharashtra State Electricity Distribution Company Ltd. (MSEDCL) for commissioning two solar power projects, 200 MW and 150 MW, respectively.

Located in Maharashtra, these projects of 200 MW and 150 MW will play a crucial role in fulfilling the state’s renewable energy targets, the firm maintains. The 200 MW and 150 MW solar installations are expected to be commissioned by mid 2025 and will generate a substantial amount of clean energy annually. They will reduce carbon dioxide (CO2) emissions by 4,28,800 tons and 3,11,200 tons annually, respectively. The 150 MW solar project under phase 7 tender will generate 389 million units of power, while the 200 MW solar project under phase 9 tender will generate 536 million units of power.

As part of the agreement, TPREL will provide clean and sustainable electricity to MSEDCL, contributing significantly to the state’s renewable energy targets. TPREL has tied-up 930 MW with MSEDCL out of which 334 MW is presently supplied and balanced 596 MW will be commissioned in the next 12-18 months.

The total renewables capacity of TPREL till date stands at 7,783 MW with an installed capacity of 4,118MW (solar- 3,136MW and wind – 982 MW) and 3,665 MW under various stages of implementation including the present 350 MW.

Along with its extensive portfolio of renewable solutions, TPREL has a state-of-the-art solar cell and module manufacturing plant of 1.2 GW in Bengaluru and plans to set up a Greenfield 4 GW solar cell and 4 GW solar module plant. In addition, TPREL also provides electric vehicle (EV) charging solutions across various segments.

As on date, TPREL’s total renewable utility capacity is 7,783 MW including 3,665 MW projects under various stages of implementation and its operational capacity is 4,118 MW, which includes 3,136 MW solar and 982 MW wind. Presently, the company’s solar EPC portfolio is more than 11.5 GWp of ground-mount utility-scale, over 1.7 GW of rooftop and distributed ground-mounted systems, and over 1 Lakh solar water pumps.

In June, Tata Power Renewable Energy Limited (TPREL) commissioned a 110 MW solar power project in Bikaner, Rajasthan. The project will supply 110 MW of green power to the Kerala State Electricity Board.
