TPREL Commissions 110 MW Project for Kerala State Electricity Board Tata Power Renewable Energy to Set Up 41 MW Captive Solar Plant for 4.3 GW Solar Manufacturing Unit in Tamil Nadu

Tata Power Renewable Energy Limited (TPREL), a subsidiary of The Tata Power Company Limited, has commissioned a 110 MW solar power project in Bikaner, Rajasthan. The project will supply 110 MW of green power to the Kerala State Electricity Board.

The Letter of Award for the project was issued in January, 2021 and the project was won through competitive bidding.

The project is expected to generate approximately 211 MUs (million units) and reduce a 2,58,257 MT (metric tonne) carbon footprint annually.

The project has used 2,59,272 mono bifacial PERC half-cell modules. In spite of the various challenges such as tough land topography, extreme weather conditions, temperatures touching 50+ degrees, the coldest of winters and sandstorms, along with adverse geopolitical challenges, the project was completed within a stipulated period of seven months.

This project is one of the fastest commissioned projects in Rajasthan, backed by a skilled team, cutting-edge technology, and experienced leadership, as per TPREL.

Speaking on the project commissioning, Ashish Khanna, CEO, Tata Power Renewable Energy Limited, said, “This 110MW solar power project will help meet the green energy requirements of the state of Kerala. The commissioning of such big projects within stipulated time frame reaffirms Tata Power Renewable’s commitment of making substantial contribution towards the green energy transition in the country.”

With this installation, the total renewables capacity of TPREL reaches 6,788 MW with an installed capacity of 4047 MW (solar – 3,106 MW & wind – 941 MW) and 2,741 MW under various stages of implementation.

Along with its extensive portfolio of renewable solutions, TPREL has a state-of-the-art solar cell and module manufacturing plant of 1.2 GW in Bengaluru and plans to set up a Greenfield 4 GW solar cell and 4 GW solar module plant. In addition, TPREL also provides electric vehicle (EV) charging solutions across various segments and other advisory solutions across the renewable sector.

As on date, TPREL’s total renewable utility capacity is 6,788 MW including 2,741 MW projects under various stages of implementation with operational capacity of 4,047 MW, which includes 3,106 MW solar and 941 MW wind. Presently, the company’s solar EPC portfolio is more than 11.5 GWp of ground-mount utility-scale, over 1.6 GW of rooftop and distributed ground-mounted systems, and over 97,000 solar water pumps.

A few months back, TPREL received an LoA from Maharashtra State Electricity Distribution Company Limited to set up a 200 MW solar project in Solarpur, Maharashtra. This LoA was preceded by the firm winning a similar award from SJVN.
