Tata Power-DDL Becomes 1st Utility to Get PEER Gold Certificate in Asia

Tata Power Delhi Distribution Ltd (Tata Power-DDL) has become the first company in the entire Asian continent to receive PEER (Performance Excellence in Electricity Renewal) Gold Certificate from Green Business Certificate Institute (GBCI).

GBCI is the premier organization independently recognizing excellence in green business industry performance and practice globally.

The award was presented by Milli Majumdar, MD – GBCI, Sr. Vice President – USGBC to Praveer Sinha, Chairman, TATA Power-DDL and CEO & MD, Tata Power and Sanjay Banga, CEO, TATA Power-DDL in Mumbai during the Distribution Utility Meet 2018 (DUM 2018).

As, part of the PEER process, Tata Power-DDL identified opportunities for continuous improvement, that includes reducing sustained interruption and improving their energy generation mix.

The company is a frontrunner in providing reliable, affordable and quality power to its consumers by implementing state of art technologies.

Moreover, to reduce interruption and build the system for resiliency, 50 percent of the cables are underground and the electrical infrastructure prone to flood are identified and elevated as per the guidelines of CEA (Central Electricity Authority).

Speaking on the achievement, Sanjay Banga, CEO, Tata Power-DDL said, “Being a leading power distribution utility, we have worked towards enhancing energy efficiency and high system reliability. All our systems are technologically integrated and ensure non-stop quality power supply to a populace of 7 million people in the national capital.”
