Sunsure Energy in PPA with SLMG Beverages for 15 MW Solar Capacity Sunsure Energy Signs Open Access Solar PPA with Dabur India

Gurugram-based Sunsure Energy will be supplying 2.25 crore green units to Uttar Pradesh-based SLMG Beverages annually under the recent  long-term power purchase agreement (PPA) signed between the two firms. The PPA has been signed with for a capacity of 15 MW in the state of Uttar Pradesh. The green units will be supplied to SLMG, from the plant located in Pailani.

SLMG Bottlers is among the largest bottlers of Coca-Cola in India. As per the firm, this partnership would help SLMG achieve sustainability and is a step towards SLMG’s goals to green their operations and contribute to India’s clean energy targets.

Sunsure Energy is already developing over 250 MWs of solar parks across Uttar Pradesh and the firm maintains that it wants to contribute to the State’s solar power growth story.

Sunsure has presence in 16 states of India in developing large scale rooftop and open access solar plants for industries. With this PPA, the two firms, SLMG Beverages and Sunsure Energy would be working  towards achieving their goals of sustainability and a greener future.

In the Tamil Nadu district of Tirunelveli, a 74 MWp open access solar power plant was built by Sunsure Energy last year in November.

Earlier, in 2017, Ludhiana Beverages Private Limited, an authorized franchise bottler of Coca-Cola had also commissioned a 100 KW solar power plant, with an annual power generation capability of 1,32,000 kW.

The spread of renewable energy deals in more and more categories of the C&I segment is a welcome expansion of the option to broader sections of industry in India. As other firms in the segment follow, each deal usually serves as the door opener for many more such deals. This is even more vital in states like UP which are still finding their feet when it comes to adopting renewable energy potential.

In the short term, there is actually a case perhaps for the government to encourage sharing of knowledge and experience for these new adopters for others to follow.
