In the Tamil Nadu district of Tirunelveli, a 74 MWp Open Access Solar Power Plant was built by Gurugram-based Sunsure Energy, a provider of whole solar solutions. With the completion of the project on September 25, 2022, Sunsure has installed 250 MW of solar power throughout 16 Indian States.

For this project, Sunsure Energy is Cleantech Solar’s EPC partner. Through this project, some of Tamil Nadu’s major companies will receive around 12 crore units of green energy annually. Industrial customers that have signed long-term open access power purchase agreements (PPAs) with Cleantech Solar will use the energy.

The said solar power plant was constructed using the “Solar Park” construction method, in which separate solar power plants are set up for each industrial customer using the plant’s energy. Through a shared 230 kV Transmission Line, all of these facilities would transfer power to the 400 kV Kanarpatty Substation of TNEB in Tirunelveli.

On September 25, 2022, the solar power plant began providing renewable energy to its customers. The factory, whose construction began in January 2022 and has been completed in three parts, has a land area of more than 210 acres. String inverters and the mono-PERC PV modules employed in this setup, which have rated capacities of up to 545 Wp, guarantee the power plant’s best-in-class efficiency.

“Credit goes to our on-site team for completing this project in time despite execution challenges posed by the weather and the daunting supply chain constraints plaguing the solar sector lately,” said Tarunveer Singh, Head of Projects, Sunsure Energy. “This is our largest single-site installation and one of the largest open access projects in the RE-rich state of Tamil Nadu.”

Shashank Sharma, Founder, and CEO of Sunsure Energy said, “Sunsure continues to drive the green power agenda forward for Indian industries. This latest installation for our long-term developer partner – Cleantech – is a mighty achievement and we hope to extend our partnership into the future with more such projects.”

Recently, Tamil Nadu Co-operative Milk Producers’ Federation Limited (TCMPFL) invited bids for 15 MW of open-access solar power projects under the group captive model in state.
