Norway based Skyfri Group has informed that it will now handle comprehensive solar asset operations of a Kerala based floating solar power plant. The floating solar project is said to be one of the largest in the state.

According to reports, the solar facility has a capacity of 22MW AC/31MWp DC. Skyfri Group informs that the award demands the company to provide a 24/7 real-time monitoring system of the solar project. This means that Skyifri will have to identify faults using machine learning, ensure optimized production time and increase efficiency of operations and maintenance.

“This contract is a milestone for Skyfri as a company. For the first time, we are expanding into the floating solar segment, one of the fastest growing opportunities in renewable energy globally. The project is commissioned by BHEL and owned by the state-owned energy company NTPC. This is a stepping stone for Skyfri into several more projects in the region,” said Pratik Ghoshal, Chief Executive Officer, Skyfri. He also said that the award is an evidence of the quality of Skyfri platform and technology.

Aslan Shamsutdin, CTO, Skyfri, stated, “Our technology accumulates data from more than 200 sites globally, and this latest add-on with floating solar will enable us to adjust our solutions onto a whole new segment.

“This is also our first project where we will deploy drone-based inspection and management. Taken in consideration that floating solar is one of the fastest growing parts of the solar industry, Skyfri will be well positioned to build dominating solutions and technology within all verticals in solar,” said Shamsutdin.

Skyfri Group is divided into two business units. Skyfri Energy is a solar Operations and Maintenance division to offer comprehensive O&M and asset management services. Then there is Skyfri Intelligence which is a technology platform meant for monitoring and administering solar power plant operations.

Skyfri informs that it has about 2GW of solar assets which makes it one of the foremost players in solar asset operations in the world. It has operations in Norway, Canada, India, Singapore and South Africa.
