Strengthening Reliance’s Renewable Leadership

With this win, the Reliance Group now commands a cumulative portfolio exceeding 4 GWp of solar energy and 6.5 GWh of BESS capacity across four tenders currently under development and execution. The firm is effectively one of India’s largest players in the Solar plus Battery Energy Storage System (BESS) segment.

The awarded project will deliver dispatchable renewable peaking power through a hybrid configuration consisting of approximately 900 MWp of solar generation and over 3000 MWh of BESS capacity.

Reliance NU Energies secured the aforementioned capacity at a competitive tariff of INR 6.74 per kWh, setting a new cost benchmark for firm renewable supply in the country, the firm noted.

The SJVN FDRE tender represents a crucial moment in India’s renewable sector as it is also the first structured mechanism to provide firm, dispatchable renewable power through hybrid and storage systems.

India’s Energy Storage Game is Getting Stronger

This development comes at a time when India is witnessing developments in the battery energy storage sector.

For instance, Adani Group has also entered the BESS space this week with a 1126 MW / 3530 MWh BESS project, to be commissioned by March 2026. Ningbo Deye Inverters recently also unveiled its new range of BESS offerings for the Indian market. The global energy solutions company has claimed that its inverter shipments in India have surpassed 5 GW.
