Rajiv Kumar Porwal Takes Over as Director (System Operation) at Grid India

Rajiv Kumar Porwal has stepped into the role of Director (System Operation) of Grid Controller of India Limited (Grid-India) formerly POSOCO. The appointment came into effect on July 7, 2023.

Before being elevated to this role, he was contributing as Executive Director, Northern Region Load Despatch Centre (NRLDC), Grid-India.

R K Porwal holds a Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical Engineering from M.M.M.Engg. College, Gorakhpur and obtained his M. Tech degree in Power EC, Electrical Machines and Drives (PEEMD) from IIT Delhi. His career spans close to three decades of experience in Power System Operation spread across POWERGRID and Grid-India.

Within Regional Load Despatch Centre and National Load Despatch Centre, Porwal has worked on grid management, operational planning, scheduling, operation services, MIS, energy metering and settlement system and commercial departments.

In his new role as As Director (System Operation) of Grid India, Porwal will be responsible for the overall security as well as the reliable operation of the India’s Power System, operational planning, grid integration, scheduling and dispatch of electricity, monitoring real-time electricity grid operations, post facto analysis of the grid operations through the NLDC & RLDCs as well as cyber security.
