Pahal Solar Starts Building 1.8 GW Solar Module Manufacturing Facility in Gujarat Rays Power Infra Acquires 520 MW Solar Projects In Gujarat, Assam

Gujarat-based Solar PV Manufacturer Pahal Solar held its groundbreaking ceremony regarding the construction of a manufacturing facility. The facility will lead the production of 1.8 GW of advanced photovoltaic modules in Atodara, Olpad, Gujarat.

According to the press document, the company stated that the manufacturing facility promises to set new industry standards by ensuring a seamless and highly efficient production process. By leveraging advanced technology, Pahal Solar aims to enhance precision, reduce costs, and increase overall productivity, reaffirming its dedication to delivering high-performance and sustainable solutions to meet the evolving needs of the solar industry.

Pahal Solar has been offering PV Modules ranging from 3Wp to 740Wp. From 30 MW in 2017 to 1.8 GW in 2024, Pahal Solar’s present production capacity has surged to 1.8 GW, with plans for further expansion.

In other news, Gujarat installed the maximum cumulative capacity (with or without CFA) with 3,264.93 MW, followed by Maharashtra with 1,905.80 MW and Rajasthan with 1,074.39 MW. As of 31 December 2023, a cumulative capacity of 10.7 GW of grid-connected solar rooftop capacity has been installed in households and commercial and industrial (C&I) sector buildings. A total of 6.7 lakhs of grid-connected solar rooftop systems with a cumulative installed capacity of 2.76 GW have been installed in households under the Grid Connected Rooftop Solar Programme (Phase II).

Apart from this, several projects are also in the fray in Gujarat. SJVN Green, Coal India, and SAEL Industries have been awarded the 600 MW solar power project which will be set up at Gujarat Industries Power Company in Khavda while Adani Green Energy Limited (AGEL), a renewable energy (RE) company and a solar PV developer, has recently operationalized 551 MW solar capacity in Khavda, Gujarat, to supplying power to the national grid.

According to a report by rating agency ICRA, India’s solar photovoltaic (PV) module manufacturing capacity is expected to increase to over 60 GW by 2025 from the current level of 37 GW, with improved backward integration into cell and wafer manufacturing. The policy measures include the notification of an Approved List of Models & Manufacturers (ALMM) comprising only domestic manufacturers, imposition of basic customs duty on imported cells and modules, and the PLI scheme.
