The Ministry of New and Renewable Energy (MNRE) has released it's latest updation to the ALMM (Approved List of Module Manufacturers) list and the list continues to grow over the previous release in October. Making an entry with its new Tamil Nadu manufacturing facility is Vikram Solar, with an approved capacity of 972 MW for both Multi C-Si and Mono PERC modules from the plant.
Pixon Green Energy with a 355 MW capacity also makes an entry for the first time. Pahel Solar, with a 100 MW capacity, also adds 100 MW to capacities in Gujarat. And finally we have Alpex Solar, with a 240 MW capacity in Noida, Uttar Pradesh.

The addition of the new entrants means that total approved capacity moves from 8855 MW spread over 32 odd manufacturers to now 10,819 MW spread over 36 manufacturers.
State | Capacity (MW) |
Gujarat | 4590 |
Bengal | 1540 |
Telangana | 1337 |
Karnataka | 1000 |
Tamil Nadu | 972 |
UP | 425 |
Haryana | 320 |
Maharashtra | 300 |
Chattisgarh | 125 |
Uttarakhand | 110 |
Rajasthan | 100 |
TOTAL | 10819 |
What is interesting in the latest November list is the high share of Gujarat, and perhaps, the relatively good spread of manufacturing across 11 states . However, the top 3 states for now account for close to 69% of all manufacturing. With Bengal coming in at a creditable 2nd spot with a 14% share, after leader Gujarat, which is at 43%.
Readers will be aware that while some manufacturing is coming up at Rajasthan possibly, a significant amount of capacity addition is under way in Gujarat, including at the Reliance Gigafactories at Jamnagar, and more additions from Waaree Energies, that will probably take Gujarat's share even higher in the medium to long term.
