European wind energy major, Nordex Group has recently announced that it has won two orders worth 187 MW for wind projects in Spain and Poland.

The first project in Spain has been received from the Grupo Enhol, a Spanish project developer. All in all, the Nordex Group will supply and install 27 AW132/3465 turbines with a rated capacity totaling 93.55 megawatts for its new customer. The order also includes a Full-Service Contract covering 10 years with an option to extend for a further 10.

The “Cabanillas” project with 15 turbines and “Ablitas” project with 12 turbines are to be built in the municipalities of Cabanillas and Ablitas in the province of Navarra in the north of Spain. Turbine installation is scheduled to begin in March and commissioning is planned to commence in June 2020. With average wind speeds of 7 m/s, the wind farms boast a capacity factor of between 42.5 and 45 percent.

The two wind farms will produce around 320 GWh of clean electricity a year. Grupo Enhol is to sell the electricity to the energy supplier Factorenergia over a period of 20 years on the basis of a Power Purchase Agreement (PPA).

The second order has been received for the installation of a 94 MW project in Poland. The “Pomerania” project is to be built in the north of the country. The Nordex Group is to supply and install 28 N131/3600 turbines and one N117/3000 machine for its customer, the Lithuanian utility Lietuvos Energija. Completion is scheduled for summer 2020. The contract also includes a Premium Service Agreement covering a period of 15 years. This is the biggest order to date for the Polish subsidiary, Nordex Polska.

“We very much appreciate the confidence that Lietuvos Energija has once again placed in us. Thanks to the size of the wind farm, the excellent wind conditions, and the efficient technology, the project will be able to make a significant contribution to the Polish energy mix. We are proud to be building our largest wind farm in Poland with such a prestigious customer and look forward to further collaboration in the region,” said Dr. Ilya Hartmann, CEO Division Europe of the Nordex Group.
