NHPC Invites Bids to Select Renewable Energy Power Developers for 1500 MW Projects with Storage Avaada Bags 1 GW in NHPC 3 GW Solar Tender; Jakson, Sprng Energy, Hinduja Among Other Winners

NHPC has issued a tender for the selection of renewable energy power developers for the supply of 1500 MW ‘Firm & Dispatchable’ power from ISTS connected Renewable Energy power projects coupled with energy storage system on anywhere in India basis under Tariff Based Competitive Bidding (TBCB) on BOO basis (Build-Operate-Own). It will be followed by reverse auction.

The last date to submit bids is November 17, 2023. Bids open on November 20, 2023.

After conclusion of bidding process, NHPC shall enter into Power Purchase Agreement (PPA) with the selected bidders, based on this RfS for purchase of solar power for a period of 25 years from the scheduled commissioning date of the project based on the terms, conditions and provisions of the RfS and PPA.

The minimum project size will be 50 MW and in multiples of 10 MW thereafter under Open category. The cumulative capacity offered should not exceed 750 MW. However, for projects located in North-Eastern States and Special Category, the minimum quantum of contracted capacity that can be offered by a bidder, including its parent, affiliate or ultimate parent or any group company, shall be 30 MW.

Financial Criteria 

The net worth of the bidder should be equal to or greater than the value calculated at the rate of INR 1.3 Crore or equivalent US$ per MW of the project capacity as on last date of previous financial year as on the day not more than seven days prior to due date of bid submission. The computation of net worth shall be based on unconsolidated audited annual accounts of the bidder.

A tender for 1500 MW will help accelerate the capacity of 10 GW allocated for NHPC by the MNRE in the bidding trajectory.

Earlier, NHPC issued a tender for the EPC, O&M of 40 MW solar project in Odisha.
