Motovolt Enters E-Scooter Segment with M7 Launch at Auto Expo 2023

Motovolt, a leading e-mobility brand, has launched an indigenously designed, multi-purpose e-scooter at the Auto Expo 2023. Recently, the firm had announced that it was stepping foot into the coveted e-scooter segment. With the launch of M7, Motovolt has officially marked its entry into the segment.

Motovolt’s e-scooter, says that M7 boasts of engineered solutions that offer a safety and convenience to the ride. The modularity of the e-scooter also enables customizations as per the needs of the riders. Other features include purpose-built storage space for safe carriage of voluminous cargo without compromising riders’ safety, higher strength and load bearing capacity, along with a detachable pillion seat, and twin, removable, easy-to-carry batteries weighing about 10 kg each. The e-scooter will be connected to the Motovolt app for a seamless experience for riders.

The e-scooter will be available for upfront purchase via a subscription model that will make its price considerably lower when compared to the existing options. Motovolt is also considering to offer an industry-first promise of unlimited battery life for the end user. The e-scooter also has a large cargo space for voluminous things. The rider can thus place the goods firmly on the e-scooter leading to a more stable and safer ride. The battery is AIS 156 phase#2 compliant and fireproof which enhances the safety factor. The swappable batteries support multiple use cases.

Speaking about the launch, Tushar Choudhary, Founder & CEO, Motovolt, said, “With this e-scooter, we wanted to introduce a safe, affordable, and multi-utility commute solution for the riders. Its modularity enhances the ride experience since the features can be repurposed to adopt to varied use cases in a focused manner. This makes it truly a one-of-its kind multi- purpose scooter fit for diverse use cases on the same vehicle. The scooter is connected to the Motovolt app and offers an optimized, safe and convenient ride experience letting the users transport goods as well as themselves without any compromise.”

Motvolt adds that it has developed a connected, purpose-built e-cycle platform which is ideal for the domestic markets. The system is powered by smart-EV technology and has in-house drivetrain design. Further, it claims that the lithium-ion batteries used by Motovolt are the only ones in the category that support fast charging. They can be remotely monitored and advanced predictive maintenance is facilitated by the technology.

Motovolt has a range of e-cycles in its kitty including HUM- a multi-utility e-cycle, KIVO Standard, KIVO Easy, ICE – A convenient, foldable e-cycle and URBN, which is an advanced e-bike.

The startup recently raised INR 16 crore in a pre-Series A round from Dubai-based family office Wami Capital, Vikrampati Singhania of JK Family, and a few others. By the end of financial year ’22-23, it plans to increase its distribution presence from 100+ physical touchpoints to more than 250.
