Inverter Major Sungrow Hits 10 GW Shipment Record In India

Sungrow, the global leading inverter solution supplier for renewables, has breached a new milestone for PV inverter shipments in India – 10 GW. Gratifyingly for the firm, it has not been even one year since the last 7 GW record, announced in January 2021. The company has clearly done well from the sharp recovery of the past ten months that the industry witnessed in India’s solar market. For Sungrow, the numbers vindicate its India strategy as well as the decision to set up manufacturing in India.

What Led to the 10 GW Record?

For Sungrow, the journey to 10 GW has been eventful. Since it entered the large market in 2014, it has leveraged, and benefited from multiple factors that created the opportunity for the firm to grow here.

sungrow10GWThe first and foremost contributor is the strong support from India’s market. With a strong 450 GW of renewable energy capacity target by 2030, India’s market offered a long runway of growth and opportunity when the firm entered India in 2014. Like other global firms who times in right, Sungrow has has moved fast with three offices in New DelhiMumbai and Bengaluru and established its overseas manufacturing site in India. These actions cemented the Company’s commitment to this market and global expansion. As a result of these proactive strategies, Sungrow  has stolen a march over many other firms with a faster localisation and response strategy. The firm has sewn up partnerships with leading developers across the country, enabling it to build a strong reputation as well as demonstrate product performance effectively.

Sungrow has already reached several GW of partnerships with Indian power giants, such as TATA Power, Adani Green, Renew Power, Azure Power, SB Energy, Mahindra, ACME, S&W, L&T and others. It also offered both central and string inverters, covering all bases in a competitive market. For instance, Sungrow’s SG3125HV central inverter series, which has a maximum efficiency of 99 % with an advanced three level technology and high integration, is one of the most prominent PV products in India as it’s been consistently deployed across large solar projects.

The Stay In India Commitment

Talking about the momentous milestone, Sunil Badesra, Head of Sungrow India says “10 GW record is such a hard-win achievement. Here, I extend my sincerest gratitude to our customers and each Sungrow employee. We will continue to offer world-class products and services, and accelerate to fulfill our mission of ‘Clean power for all’ in the future,” .

With its existing manufacturing facilities, and newer opportunities in storage inverters and hybrids opening up, Sungrow seems well placed to stay among the leader pack in the Indian market, as customers start looking at track records and performance  from solar plants installed over the past few years.
