GE Renewable Energy To Supply 81 Turbines To 218 MW Wind Projects In India

GE Renewable Energy To Supply 81 Turbines To 218 MW Wind Projects In India

GE Renewable Energy has orders from Continuum Green Energy to supply, install and commission 81 units of its 2.7-132 onshore wind turbines for the 218.7 MW wind power projects in Tamil Nadu and Madhya Pradesh states of India. GE said that the orders have been placed by Continuum subsidiaries Continuum MP Windfarm Development and Dalavaipuram Renewables.

Last year, Continuum and GE Renewable Energy signed an agreement to supply turbines for Continuum’s 148.5 MW Morjar, Bhuj and 99.9 MW Rajkot wind farms in Gujarat.

GE Renewable Energy said that the Continuum managed wind farms will provide local businesses and consumers with accessible, affordable, and reliable energy. Continuum is an India-focused renewable energy platform with 1+ GW of operating and under-construction capacity.

Speaking on the new orders from Continuum, Deepak Maloo, Regional Sales Leader, GE Renewable Energy, said, “Over the last year, we have secured over 2 GW of orders in India making us one of the largest wind turbine original equipment manufacturer (OEM) supplier in the country.”

GE Renewable Energy said that its 2.7-132 wind turbine is a choice for many customers in India due to its performance at India’s low wind speeds. The company said that the new wind farm project will leverage its significant local footprint in India as turbines are designed in Technology Center in Bengaluru, blades manufactured in in Vadodara and assembly is done at the Multi-modal Manufacturing Facility in Pune.

GE Renewable Energy also mentioned that today Over 8 million Indian homes light up using its renewable energy technology across wind and hydropower.

In October, 2021, GE Renewable Energy received an order from India-based JSW Energy to supply 810 MW of onshore wind turbines for wind farms in Tamil Nadu.

GE Renewable Energy is a $16 billion business delving into onshore and offshore wind, blades, hydro, storage, utility-scale solar, grid solutions, hybrid renewables and digital services offerings. It claims to have installed over 400 GW of renewable energy and equipped more than 90 percent of utilities worldwide with its grid solutions.
