Bharat Heavy Electricals Limited (BHEL) has issued an Expression of Interest (EoI), for renewable energy developers, inviting them to supply 90 million units (KWhr) of Round the Clock renewable energy per year to BHEL’s facilities located at Haridwar (54 million units), Bhopal (12 million units), Trichy (12 million units), and Hyderabad (12 million units) on a long-term basis.

The last day to submit proposals is September 30, 2023.

The annual energy needs of BHEL at the sites specified may be reviewed every year, with a potential variation of up to 10% in the requirement. Interested bidders must furnish details of commercially operational RE-RTC generating plants or those expected for commissioning by June 2025.

At the same time, the prospective partner is needed to declare guaranteed annual power supply, to be computed annually starting April 1 to March 31 of the following year. BHEL will accept an annual variation of up to +/- 10% in the guaranteed annual power that is declared. Power in excess of 110% of the declared guarantee can be sold to other entities. But in the case that the power supply falls below 90% of the declared guarantee, the partner may be liable for compensation (barring cases of grid non-availability for evacuation beyond their control, as certified by relevant authorities). The compensation will be computed at four times (400%) the cost shortfall in energy terms, basis the applicable tariff for the subsequent financial year’s first month.

Earlier, BHEL SBD Bangalore issued a tender for the design, supply and assembly of floating system and associated anchoring and mooring for development of 300 MW AC capacity floating solar power project at Rengali Reservoir at Angul District in the state of Odisha.
