Avaada Bags 1 GW in NHPC 3 GW Solar Tender; Jakson, Sprng Energy, Hinduja Among Other Winners

In NHPC’s 3 GW tender for the selection of Solar Power Developer, Avaada Energy, Jakson, Sprng Energy, Hinduja Renewable Energy, Green Infra Wind Energy, Solairdirect Energy India, Hazel Hybren have emerged winners.

Solairdirect Energy India is an arm of ENGIE, Green Infra Wind Energy and Hazel Hybren are subsidiaries of Sembcorp and Mahindra respectively.

Avaada won the highest capacity of 1000 MW, followed by Jakson- 400 MW. Hazel Hybren and Green Infra Energy won 300 MW each. The remaining included Sprng Energy, Apraava, Hinduja and Solairdirect which bagged 250 MW each.

Hinduja had quoted 490 MW, but bagged 250 MW only under bucket-filling method. Solairdirect quoted a tariff of INR 2.52 per Kw while others quoted INR 2.53 per Kw.

The tender entailed reverse auction for which the lowest tariff discovered was INR 2.54 per Kw.

Avaada has been proactively participating in and emerging as a winner in tenders. Some of its recent wins include 200 MW in SECI tender, 400 MW in GUVNL tender, 200 MW in RUVNL tender, among others.

As per the tender issued in June 2023, the Solar Power Developer(s) will be responsible for setting up of 3000 MW (3 GW) ISTS (Inter State Transmission System) connected solar power projects anywhere in India. NHPC shall enter into Power Purchase Agreement (PPA) with the selected bidders, based on this RfS for purchase of solar power for a period of 25 years from the Scheduled Commissioning Date of the project based on the terms, conditions and provisions of the RfS and PPA.

A recent significant tender issued by NHPC is for the selection of renewable energy power developers for the supply of 1500 MW ‘Firm & Dispatchable’ power from ISTS connected Renewable Energy power projects coupled with energy storage system on anywhere in India basis under Tariff Based Competitive Bidding (TBCB) on BOO basis (Build-Operate-Own). It will be followed by reverse auction.
