Amplus Solar to Institute 200 MWp Wind & Solar Hybrid Project in Tuticorin, Tamil Nadu

Amplus Solar, a firm that provides distributed energy has joined hands with EverRenew, an NTC group company, for the establishment of a 200 MWp open-access solar power plant in Tuticorin, Tamil Nadu. The plant is slated to generate close to 450 million units of green electricity in the first year of its operation itself.

Amplus Solar says that the firm has been helping large corporates in India to procure green power and reduce operational costs while meeting their net-zero targets. It adds that it has over 450 customers across onsite and offsite projects. For Amplus Solar. this is the second open-access project for wind-solar hybrid in Tamil Nadu.

On the signing of the contract, Sharad Pungalia, MD and CEO, of Amplus Solar, said “Tamil Nadu has always been at the forefront of the renewable energy transition, and we are happy to set up our first wind and solar hybrid with an experienced partner, EverRenew, in the state. Wind-solar hybrid has vast potential in enhancing grid stability, and we look forward to setting up more of such projects across the country in the coming years.”

The hybrid plant will combine the power from co-located solar panels and wind turbines to produce an uninterrupted supply of green energy for commercial and industrial consumers in the state.

Other than distributed energy, Amplus Solar has also diversified into new avenues such as battery storage, residential solar, and electric vehicle-based logistics solutions. Amplus Solar owns and manages a portfolio of over 1.4 GW of distributed solar assets and serves more than 350 Indian and multinational firms like Yamaha, Cisco, Amazon, Walmart, Reckitt Benckiser, Schlumberger, Carlsberg, ABB, TVs, Schneider, Qualcomm, Halliburton, GE, Honda among others, quadrupling its customer base from 2017 to 2023.

Amplus Solar’s operational plants are expected to cumulatively generate 22 billion units of electricity over their lifetime.

EverRenew, which is a renewable energy project management firm providing wind and solar energy assessment, development, and deployment services, has completed 25 projects since inception and installed 400 MW worth of capacity. It has another 4.16 GW of capacity in the pipeline.

Amplus Solar recently announced that Jakson Green would complete and hand over to Amplus Solar in Bikaner, Rajasthan, India, a solar power plant on a turnkey EPC basis within 8.5 months of the partnership’s start.
