The Airports Authority of India (AAI) has issued a tender for the deployment of a 100 kW flexible grid-connected rooftop solar PV power plant on the terminal building of the Pune Airport under a CAPEX model.

According to the agency, the generated solar power will be utilised for captive application and the surplus power will be fed to the grid. The scheme aims to reduce the fossil fuel-based electricity load on main grid and make building self-sustainable from the point of electricity to the extent possible.

The scope of work for the bidder mainly includes site survey, complete design for optimal uses of space, engineering, manufacture, supply, storage, insurance, civil work, erection, testing and commissioning of the solar PV project including all accessories and walk ways on roof, access ladder, including operation and maintenance (O&M) of the project for a period of five years after commissioning.

The last date for submission of bids is October 7, 2019, and the techno-commercial bids will be opened on October 9, 2019. The time allotted for completion of the project and commissioning of the system is 4 months from the date of award of work.

The estimated cost of the project is Rs 1.23 crore. All bidders must submit an Earnest Money Deposit of Rs 2.47 lakh along with their bids. To be eligible, the bidder must submit documents to validate an annual average financial turnover of Rs 3,704,670 against the work executed during the last three financial years.

The AAI, which comes under the Ministry of Civil aviation, is seeking to use sustainable solar power to fuel operations at various facilities across the country.

Recently, AAI had floated a tender, inviting bids from eligible parties for the development of a 1 MW grid-connected solar PV power plant at the Begumpet Airport in Hyderabad. The estimated cost of that project was only Rs 40.94 lakh.
