Job Description

The Business Development Lead will deeply analyze local market requirements to develop & execute strategies and tactics to grow Industrial Pumps business in India covering all end markets and customer segments.

Responsibilities & Requirements: Primary Responsibilities:-

The primary responsibilities include:

  • Research, identify and report new business opportunities – including new markets, growth areas, trends, customers, partnerships, products, and services – or new ways of reaching existing markets
  • Deliver industry and customer knowledge and engage in strategic assessments to identify growth opportunities in under-penetrated and new markets (global dimension / geographies)
  • Monitor local developments in the INDIA pump market to understand trends and be able to anticipate customer demands and identify features and functionality which may be applied to Flowserve products to allow the company to be competitive and position the company as the technology leader
  • Prioritize best sectors, priority customers and applications to focus Flowserve Pump Division’s efforts in the INDIA region
  • Proactively anticipate business opportunities, and lead investigation, creation of strategy, and execution of associated tactics and initiatives that drive growth of pumps business in India and other global export markets
  • Develop and shape growth strategies and drive key strategic initiatives that are central to the growth and profitability of business in India
  • Assess the dynamic, quick changing landscape of our businesses, analyze solutions, build the business case, influence stakeholders, and drive execution and change
  • Work closely with Product Leaders, Sales, Operations, and other functions to maximize the growth, development and return on investment of Flowserve’s product portfolio
  • Build the strategic marketing plan to support and grow the business, prioritize, and align target audiences and develop strategic messaging
  • Identify and execute strategic marketing programs that raise brand awareness, including, but not limited to, sponsored articles, participation in events, and co-authored editorials with our stakeholders
  • Assess the effectiveness of current Go-to-Market channels, evaluate existing distribution partner dynamics, and identify new partners to align with customer buying behaviors and patterns
  • Facilitate effective and fact-based decision making by conducting market analysis and competitor benchmarking, customer needs assessment and managing internal and external research project.
  • Monitor & analyze industry trends with both a macro and micro lens (e.g. industry regulations, technology trends / advancement, macroeconomic conditions, business processes, challenges)
  • Provide input to the annual strategic planning process, maintaining documented strategic plan and key initiatives that help achieve business goals and targets
  • Lead the development of strategic planning initiatives including M&A due diligence, partnerships and alliance opportunities and other new growth initiatives
  • Participate in VOC activities to both validate market understanding and mine unmet customer needs
  • Search out new approaches, suppliers, and channel to market in a variety of other industries and evaluate its applicability to Flowserve products and processes
  • Develop commercial and business models to support growth targets

Education and Experience:-

  • 5 -10+ years of experience in heavy industry equipment that spans multiple industries (e.g., Oil & Gas, Power, Chemical, Water or General Industries)
  • (4) Year business or engineering degree required (Mechanical, Chemical, Manufacturing or Electrical), MBA and/or Advanced Engineering degree preferred
  • Minimum of 5 years Engineering, Product Management, and/or Marketing of industrial products
  • Experience with product management, marketing communications, pricing, VOC, and new product development
  • Strong financial acumen with relevant experience interacting with and assessing complex business models, diverse data sources and P&L key metrics
  • Excellent analytical skills: data driven and focused on fact-based assessments leading to economic outcomes and other quantifiable deliverables with plans for achievement
  • Proven project management skills, effective self-starter and meets deadlines routinely
  • Proven ability to take actions, manage risks intelligently, prioritize and implement effective solutions in a timely manner
  • Track record of establishing and executing short- and long-term market and product growth goals
  • Strong business acumen and ability to lead the development and implementation of business strategies
  • Flexibility to travel (domestic and international) and manage working hours to meet the demands of the role (25-50% Travel required)
  • Fluent in written and spoken English. Other language skills useful
